🍿 NOW IN CINEMAS

Bruce Springsteen struggles to complete his 1981 album Nebraska while confronting inner turmoil in Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere. Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) stars as Springsteen alongside Jeremy Strong as supportive manager Jon Landau and Stephen Graham as Springsteen’s father in director Scott Cooper's adaptation of Warren Zanes' book.

“This isn’t another music biopic. This isn’t even a movie about Springsteen at all—it’s a movie about depression, and the Boss is merely the vessel to tell its story,” writes The Prague Reporter, praising the evocative cinematography and intimate performances in elevating the movie above standard genre fare.

Two couples revisit old choices while a new generation of love begins in Regretting You, adapted from the novel by Colleen Hoover (It Ends With Us). Allison Williams and Mckenna Grace lead alongside Dave Franco, and Mason Thames in director Josh Boone’s teary multi-generational romance.

The Prague Reporter notes that “its earnest performances and grounded emotional core give it a resonance that lingers beyond its predictability,” highlighting Williams’ luminous portrayal of a wife, sister, and mother navigating grief and desire, and Boone’s careful handling of interwoven relationships and long-held secrets.

Depeche Mode: M captures the band’s Mexico City performances from their Memento Mori world tour, blending live music with reflections on mortality. Directed by Fernando Frias, the film intertwines electrifying stadium footage with intimate cultural imagery inspired by Mexican traditions, creating a meditative cinematic experience.

For Czech fans, the release recalls Depeche Mode’s long history in Prague, from their 1988 communist-era concert to their 2023 Letňany show, and the enduring connection of late founding member Andy Fletcher to the city. The film will screen in Prague cinemas, including IMAX, for a limited run starting Oct. 28.

📺 NEW TO STREAMING

A House of Dynamite follows a single nuclear missile as it heads toward the United States, depicting the responses of government officials, military officers, and intelligence agents with meticulous attention to detail. Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Clarke, Anthony Ramos, and Idris Elba lead a strong ensemble in Kathryn Bigelow’s tense political thriller, now streaming on Netflix.

The Prague Reporter writes that the film is “an entirely gripping, edge-of-your-seat experience,” praising Bigelow’s precision and intensity in crafting a thriller that feels uncomfortably plausible, even as its ambiguous ending challenges audience expectations.

Just in time for Halloween: It: Welcome to Derry is a prequel series to the 2017 and 2019 films, exploring the origins of Pennywise the Dancing Clown in 1962 Derry, Maine. Noted Prague aficionado Bill Skarsgård reprises his role as the shape-shifting entity, while a new ensemble of children and adults confront the town’s deep-rooted horrors.

The series delves into the history and interludes from Stephen King’s 1986 novel, expanding on Derry’s dark secrets and cosmic evil. It premieres on HBO Max in the U.S. tonight (early Monday in Prague), with new episodes airing weekly, offering both fresh scares and connections to the films.
