Mamoru Oshii’s masterpiece Angel’s Egg returns to Prague cinemas in a stunning new 4K restoration, including a screening with English subtitles at Edison Filmhub on March 17. The 1985 cult classic follows a young girl protecting a mysterious egg through a dystopian city, blending surreal imagery with haunting philosophical themes.

🇨🇿 Czech Cinema Spotlight
Fresh off winning Czech Lion Awards for Best Documentary, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing, Better Go Mad in the Wild is now streaming. Directed by Miro Remo, the film follows twin brothers Ondřej and František Klišík living in seclusion in the Šumava forests, blending intimate observation with strikingly composed cinematography.
The Prague Reporter called it “a whimsical yet deeply human portrait of coexistence with nature” that captures “both the ordinary rhythms and peculiar flourishes of the brothers’ lives.” Better Go Mad in the Wild is now available to watch with English subtitles on HBO Max.

🎞️ The Throwback
Waves returns for a special English-subtitled screening at Kino Aero on March 19 as part of the Some Like It Czech series, followed by a Q&A with director Jiří Mádl. The 2024 period drama recounts the final months of the Prague Spring through the eyes of journalists at Czechoslovak Radio, blending historical detail with tense, human storytelling.
"The real-life underpinnings shine through, especially during a thrilling climax as Soviet tanks roll through Prague," writes The Prague Reporter. Waves is also streaming with English subtitles on KVIFF.TV and Netflix.
