Prague’s Most Beloved Street Festival Has Been Cancelled This Year

Yet another blow for the spring social line-up in Prague this year comes with the cancellation of a popular street fest

Following news last week that Rašínovo nábřeží renovations would see the closure of several popular riverside venues—including waterfront bar Bajkazyl—it seems yet another of Prague’s beloved spring traditions will suffer a similar fate.

According to a post on the Krymská Facebook page, the annual street festival, due to take place on Krymská street in Prague’s Vršovice district next month, has been cancelled.

“Korso 2018 will not [be happening] this year,” spokesperson Nika Slavíková wrote in a post yesterday.

Ms. Slavíková goes on to cite the repair of a water pipeline which will take place from late April, followed by work on the sidewalks and the road as the main reason for the annual event’s cancellation.

Organizers are saying that it is too late to move the event to another street; the future of the street fair remains in limbo.

The street festival debuted in 2013. Last year a whopping 15,000 people visited Korso Krymská which brings together area shops, cafes, and artists for a day-long celebration of Vršovice, the Czech capital’s Little Montmartre.
