Prague, April 28 (CTK) – Czechs did not stop exercising during the novel coronavirus pandemic, but many also eat more and drink more alcohol, according to a poll conducted by the Ipsos agency for the Interior Ministry’s Health Insurance Company.

Two-thirds of respondents said they manage to keep a healthy lifestyle while in quarantine, with enough sleep and hydration, and almost 70 percent also continue to exercise. The most common forms of exercise are walking (47.5 percent) and cycling (17.3 percent).

Some one-third of those polled said they did not exercise at all.

The poll also showed that almost 40 percent of people started eating more and almost one-fifth increased their alcohol intake, with the most marked increase detected among people aged 27-35 and the least amount of alcohol above normal consumed by people aged 54 to 65.

Almost half of Czechs said they see the current situation as more taxing physically or psychologically, with more than one-third of respondents aged under 35 reporting problems with their ability to cope with the state of emergency, which, declared by the government has been in effect since mid-March, implying a number of restrictions.

More than 80 percent of the respondents said their sexual life and family relations did not deteriorate while in quarantine. Only roughly 10 percent of people reported a worsening in their relationship with their partner, 5 percent reported a worse relationship with their parents and roughly 4 percent with their children.
