Police in Usti nad Labem are trying to track down a couple of young men who stretched out across the tracks in the path of an oncoming train and miraculously survived.
The video, which was uploaded to YouTube, televised by Prima, and published by iDnes, shows two young men sneak onto the tracks as a Regiojet train approaches. The driver tries to brake and sounds the air whistle before the train rushes over the men.
Seconds later, the pair get up and run away. A Czech Railways spokesperson told iDnes that the fact the two survived the incident was pure luck; had the train been going 60-70 km per hour, neither would have have lived to tell the tale.
In addition to the speed factor, the powerful wind created by the train could have snagged the men’s clothing and wrapped it around the bottom of the train to fatal results, says the railway source.
If caught, the duo could face a fine of up to 10,000 CZK for violating railway laws.
