1️⃣ Babiš backs preliminary government plan for coalition

ANO’s Karel Havlíček said party leader Andrej Babiš supports the preliminary coalition program with SPD and Motorists. The draft largely mirrors ANO’s manifesto, Havlíček told Czech Television after a two-hour meeting with Babiš. Compromises were reached without major ideological disputes. Babiš will brief President Petr Pavel on the coalition talks and next steps Monday morning.

2️⃣ Protests in Prague and Brno challenge Sudeten German congress plan

About 150 people protested in Prague and Brno against the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft’s potential 2026 congress in Brno. The Český pohraniční klub (KCP), known for its controversial communist-era tributes, organized the rallies. Protesters said the invitation “revises history.” Sudeten German leader Bernd Posselt called the invitation “an incredible honor,” while acknowledging it could stir controversy.

3️⃣ Masaryk archive to be digitized by Czech Academy of Sciences

Experts from the Masaryk Institute and Archives of the Academy of Sciences are digitizing over 500 meters of materials from President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk’s estate, including 10,000 photos and 2,000 glass negatives. The project receives CZK 1–1.5 million annually plus CZK 300,000. Director Rudolf Kučera called the archive “too valuable to stay boxed.” In late August 1934, the ex-president suffered a severe health crisis when doctors diagnosed worsening brain disorders.

4️⃣ Strong winds cause dozens of incidents across regions

Firefighters handled nearly 90 incidents in Central Bohemia Sunday due to strong winds, mainly clearing fallen trees and damaged roofs. Similar situations occurred in Plzeň and Ústí nad Labem regions. Several vehicles were hit by falling trees, but no injuries were reported. Railway traffic was briefly disrupted in several areas due to track obstructions.

5️⃣ Meteorologists forecast rainy start, clearer weekend ahead

The Český hydrometeorologický ústav (ČHMÚ) forecasts a rainy, cloudy week with daytime highs reaching 17 degrees Celsius and no overnight frost. Snowfall is expected early in the week above 800 meters, with up to 20 centimeters in mountain areas. The weekend should bring partial clearing, sunshine, and fog typical for the Dušičky (All Souls) period, meteorologists said.
