Each week, our editors will be rounding up the best events for the English-speaking community: places to meet new people, test your knowledge, learn something, or just get out of the house.

This week's calendar runs from May 11 through May 15, with tips for a water festival on the Vltava, a classical music festival, and much more.

LANGUAGE & LEARNING

  • May 12: Let's Talk in Czech is an online discussion club for intermediate Czech learners organized by the Integration Centre of Prague every other Tuesday from 7:15–9 p.m. Participation is free.
  • May 14: Fintech Roadmap ’26, the largest Czech-Slovak fintech conference, brings together founders, investors, regulators, and industry leaders at the Czech National Bank Congress Centre in Prague.
  • May 14: The Female Leaders Summit 2026 takes place at Martinic Palace in Prague Castle, bringing together women leaders from business, tech, politics, and media to discuss women’s influence in shaping Europe’s future.
  • May 14–17: Book World Prague returns to Výstaviště in Holešovice for its 31st edition, featuring author talks, readings, and discussions focused on Europe, history, and literature as a voice of freedom.
  • May 15: A free CV-writing workshop at Prague Integration Center offers practical guidance in English on structuring a professional CV, improving wording, and using AI tools to better tailor applications for job searches.
  • May 17: Economist and philosopher Tomáš Sedláček leads an English-language lecture series at Opero exploring Václav Havel’s legacy and themes of meaning, technology, and European identity through philosophy and contemporary politics.

FOR FOODIES

  • May 15: Ze Mě Projekt returns with another gastro rave featuring food, dancing and NobodyListen on the decks. We wrote more about it here.
  • May 16: Prague's beloved Kavárna co hledá jméno turns 10 with special drinks, a tattoo station and a grill menu.
  • May 16: Ambiente's informal Wine at the Castle festival returns to Kuchyn for a relaxed afternoon in one of Prague's most atmospheric settings.

COMMUNITY BUILDING & VOLUNTEERING

  • Prague Fringe 2026 is recruiting volunteers to support front-of-house operations, ticketing, and citywide promotion during the festival’s 25th edition across venues from May 22–30. Apply online here.
  • May 11: Prague Shakespeare Company holds open casting auditions for its 2026–27 season at Divadlo Na Prádle, seeking actors and creative team members for upcoming English-language productions.
  • May 14: Reuse Birthday Market in the Holešovice Market celebrates its second anniversary with mystery discount raffles, snacks, and second-hand treasure hunting, marking two years of community support and more than 3,800 donated items already collected in 2026.
  • May 13: Garden Fest at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague in Suchdol is a free, family-friendly campus celebration featuring live music, graduation ceremonies, and a full afternoon program of workshops, kids’ activities, food stalls, and more.
  • May 16: Friends Club Open Tournament ’26 takes place at Badminton Aréna Skalka in Prague, featuring men’s doubles and mixed doubles competitions across intermediate and advanced divisions.

Networking

  • May 13: The British Chamber of Commerce hosts Around the World with 14 Chambers, an international networking evening featuring business connections, cultural presentations, global cuisine, and a charity raffle.
  • May 13: A speed dating evening for English speakers takes place at Dorado Coffee, bringing together participants aged 34–48 in a relaxed setting designed for meeting new people.
  • May 14: A creative writing session at Locus Workspace invites participants to write a brand-new short story in 40 minutes using prompts, with opportunities to connect with other writers.
  • May 14: The Prague Book Club meets at Globe Bookstore & Café to discuss Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, exploring its depiction of violence, morality, and survival set against the backdrop of America’s westward expansion.

ENTERTAINMENT

  • May 11: Edison Filmhub hosts The Golden Spurtle, a documentary about the World Porridge Championship in Scotland, preceded by a stand-up set from Scottish comedian Grant Gallacher.
  • May 12: The Prague Spring Festival opens its 81st edition at the Municipal House’s Smetana Hall with a performance of Má vlast by Bedřich Smetana, performed by the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra.
  • May 12: Concurrently, a Prague Spring open air event in Riegrovy sady offers a free family-friendly outdoor program with live performances, music workshops, and a public screening of the Prague Spring Festival’s opening concert from the Municipal House.
  • May 12: Japanese psychedelic rock collective Acid Mothers Temple returns to Prague for a concert at MeetFactory, bringing its sprawling “trip music” sound to Smíchov.
  • May 14: CAMP screens Prickly Mountain: My Design/Build Life, a documentary exploring experimental affordable housing and hands-on architectural education in Vermont, with an online introduction from director Allie Rood.
  • May 14–15: The Baroque water festival Prague Navalis springs to life with a riverside procession under Charles Bridge and a floating classical concert on the Vltava.
  • May 15: Forest Memories, a new film about life in a poor Croatian village, plays with English subtitles at Kino Přítomnost. The screening will be followed by the launch of the Czech translation of its source novel, with author Damir Karakaš in attendance.

TRIVIA & GAME NIGHTS

  • May 12: The weekly pub quiz at Philly & Co’s Original Cheesesteaks presents general trivia covering topics from music to sport every Tuesday from 7 p.m.
  • May 12: Manifesto Market hosts an open-air general knowledge quiz night, running twice monthly, with teams competing across a range of topics.
  • May 12: Globe Bookstore & Café hosts a TV series quiz night for binge-watchers, featuring questions from popular shows across platforms like Netflix, HBO, and Disney+.
  • May 12: The Down Under hosts an NFL quiz night, featuring football-themed trivia for fans of all levels, with team and individual prizes.
  • May 13: The Under the Sauce Pub Quiz takes place on Wednesdays at Third Coast Pizza in Žižkov from 7 p.m.
  • May 13: Now in its 17th year, The Globe Quiz Night takes place at Globe Bookstore & Café every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m.
  • May 14: The Down Under hosts its weekly pub quiz every Thursday with a relaxed Aussie-themed atmosphere from 7 p.m.
