From cocktail week to a parliamentary open day, here’s where to go in Prague this week from May 4-8.

Each week, our editors will be rounding up the best events for the English-speaking community: places to meet new people, test your knowledge, learn something, or just get out of the house.

This week's calendar runs from May 4 through May 8, with tips for community gardens, board game nights, Cinco de Mayo, and a street food block party.

LANGUAGE & LEARNING

  • All week: Mercedes-Benz Studio Prague transforms the Mánes Gallery into a temporary cultural space showcasing design, innovation, art, and lifestyle programming through May 24.
  • May 6: ballroom dancing for beginners workshop at Palác Lucerna teaches partner dancing basics, including leading and following techniques, with rotating partners in a relaxed group format.
  • May 6: Author Zuzana Říhová reads from her novel Playing Wolf at the AAU Library, followed by a discussion on her writing process, contemporary literature, and the book’s recent English translation.
  • May 7: A walk through Prague 5 with Prague Feminist Tours explores Ženské domovy, Smíchov City, and Jinonice, highlighting women’s history, gender-focused street art, and urban development.
  • May 7: Architect Pascal Müller of Swiss firm Müller Sigrist Architekten gives an English-language lecture on city housing at Kino Světozor.
  • May 8: A Czech parliamentary Open Day event invites the public to visit the Chamber of Deputies at Thun Palace and the Senate at Waldstein and Kolovrat Palaces, along with Liechtenstein Palace on Kampa, offering access to normally restricted halls and government meeting spaces across Prague’s Malá Strana district.
  • May 8–10: Holešovice Market Hall hosts Life Behind Walls: North Korea, a large-scale immersive exhibition combining photography, installations, and personal testimonies from North Korean defectors curated by writer Nina Špitálníková.

FOR FOODIES

  • May 6-13: Prague & Brno Cocktail Week takes over selected bars across both cities with a week of discounted signature cocktails, guest bartenders, tastings, and workshops celebrating modern mixology.
  • May 6: Cruncho Pizza pop-up at Lya Beer Café on Krymská serves up Roman-style and “baciata” pizzas including mortadella with burrata, eggplant with truffle oil, and classic margherita options.
  • May 8: A street food block party outside Mr.HotDoG and Sandwich Rodeo in Prague 7 features hot dogs, drinks, live DJ sets, games like cornhole, kids’ activities, and more, all day long from noon.

COMMUNITY BUILDING & VOLUNTEERING

  • May 6: Finnish afternoon at the Integration Center Prague offers a relaxed cultural presentation on Finnish life, language, food, and social customs, with tea, sweets, and discussion led by a guest speaker from Helsinki. This week sees the Finnish president visit Prague.
  • All spring: Community gardens are springing to life in Prague. If you'd like to join one, this handy map of for shared spaces for green thumbs is useful.

ENTERTAINMENT

  • May 4: Eric Clapton performs a career-spanning blues-rock concert at Prague’s O2 Arena, featuring classics such as Layla, Crossroads, and Tears in Heaven.
  • May 4: The Tiger Lillies bring their dark cabaret and grotesque humor back to Prague with an intimate seated performance at Lucerna Music Bar.
  • May 5: Blaze Lounge hosts a late-night Cinco de Mayo party with reggaeton, Latin music, mariachi, limbo, and drink specials, with the option to arrive directly or join a Drunken Monkey pub crawl beforehand.
  • May 6: An organ concert as part of the Dvořákův festival takes place at Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace in Prague 4, featuring a program of sacred organ music in a church setting.
  • May 6: CAMP hosts a screening of Copan, a documentary exploring life inside Oscar Niemeyer’s iconic São Paulo residential building, followed by an online introduction by director Carine Wallauer.
  • May 8–10: The oldest track cycling race in continental Europe, Grand Prix Framar takes place at the TJ Kovo Třebešín velodrome in Prague, featuring international elite riders and a free public program celebrating Czech cycling.
  • May 9: Glen Hansard returns to Prague’s Lucerna Great Hall for a solo show with his band, featuring new material alongside his signature folk-rock repertoire, with support from Courtney Marie Andrews.

TRIVIA & GAME NIGHTS

  • May 4: An open board game night at Bohemia Boards & Brews in Vršovice invites visitors to try hundreds of party and strategy games, either solo or with friends, in a casual social setting.
  • May 5: Globe Bookstore hosts its monthly film quiz with questions on classics, cult favorites, international cinema, and B-movies, plus prizes for top teams and standout individual players.
  • May 5: The weekly pub quiz at Philly & Co’s Original Cheesesteaks presents general trivia covering topics from music to sport every Tuesday from 7 p.m.
  • May 6: The Under the Sauce Pub Quiz takes place on Wednesdays at Third Coast Pizza in Žižkov from 7 p.m.
  • May 6: Now in its 17th year, The Globe Quiz Night takes place at Globe Bookstore & Café every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m.
  • May 7: Beckett's Irish Pub hosts its weekly pub quiz every Thursday this spring, with a relaxed Irish-themed atmosphere from 7:30 p.m.
  • May 7: The Down Under hosts its weekly pub quiz every Thursday with a relaxed Aussie-themed atmosphere from 7 p.m.
