Police are investigating the brutal bullying of a 12-year-old schoolgirl in Hodonín, South Moravia, after disturbing footage showing the girl being slapped, kicked, and pulled by her hair circulated on social media Sunday.

The video, filmed and laughed at by bystanders, was posted by the victim’s mother, who claims her daughter has endured years of bullying without serious intervention from the school.

“If the school had acted when I first reported it, this wouldn’t have escalated,” the mother posted on Facebook. She later told Novinky.cz, that her daughter had been subjected to racist insults, forced to lick shoes, and spat on. She also revealed that her daughter had expressed self-harm intentions as early as third grade, which the school allegedly ignored.

Following the latest attack, the girl was treated at an emergency room before the family contacted police. “Since late Saturday, we’ve been investigating the assault,” police said on Facebook, confirming that family members of those involved have been questioned.

In response to the mother’s comments, school principal Andrej Pavlíků told CNN Prima that the incident was a “retaliation” and that the widely shared video was an attack on the school’s reputation. “We have the impression that this is retaliation, an attack on the school, failure to fulfill one’s responsibilities within free time activities,” said Pavlíků

Criminal proceedings are expected to be initiated soon. Authorities emphasized the investigation will focus on the roles of those involved and the events leading up to the attack. Due to the involvement of minors, detailed information will remain limited.
