Primark, a popular discount fashion retailer, will soon open the doors to their first location in Prague, according to a report in Kupi.cz.

The Irish discount fashion chain will be located in the multifunctional building Flow Building in Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí).

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the construction of the building is on schedule and should be done later this summer. The store should open in the fall.

Primark will occupy three floors of the multifunctional building. Construction is underway on the inside of the store, according to Kupi.cz, and Primark is already looking for employees for their new store.

Czechs have long been waiting for the store to open. There was even a bus tour devoted to transporting Czech shoppers to the nearest Primark in Dresden, Germany.

“The business that originates in Prague will be the flagship of Central and Eastern Europe. Customers from Bohemia and Moravia, who have been going to Dresden, Linz, and Vienna until now, will start going to Prague because it will be a huge branch, which will be located in an interesting place and in a new building in the very center of Prague,” Jan Kotrbáček from the real estate consultancy Cushman & Wakefield, a partner of Primark in the Czech Republic, said.

Primark has more than 300 locations across Europe and North America. Most of them are in the UK, Spain, and Ireland. The success of the chain is a strategy that combines fast fashion and low prices.
