PRAGUE INTERNATIONAL MARATHON SPOL. S.R.O. LAUNCHES A NEW „PIM WOMEN´S CHALLENGE“ WHICH WILL BE INCORPORATED INTO THE 2010 PIM RUNNING CIRCUIT

Prague, October 27th, 2009: Prague International Marathon spol. s.r.o. (“PIM”) announces today the launch of its “PIM Women´s Challenge” which will be incorporated into the 2010 PIM Running Circuit. The Challenge is aimed at women of all ages and fitness levels and is part of PIM”s ongoing commitment to encourage people to incorporate running into their daily life as part of their need for a healthy lifestyle. Entries will open on lst December, 2009.

PIM wants to see as many women as possible taking part in the Challenge, whether by simply joining in with the training programme (both in person and on-line) or by taking part in one of the feature races of the year – the Hervis Prague Half Marathon, one of the team races (4 x 5k or 4 x 10k) or even, for the really ambitious, the Volkswagen Prague Marathon. All women that enter the Challenge will be able to take part in specially organised training programmes and PIM hopes to announce a number of other motivating initiatives during the course of the Challenge.

PIM will also be choosing a number of selected women from those that apply who they will follow up until the day of their race, tracking their training and nutrition, assisting with their running programme and then following them in their races. PIM expects, then to award a special prize for the woman that the team from PIM regards as having made the most outstanding progress through the year.

The idea for the PIM Women´s Challenge came about, in part, because of the huge increase in the numbers of women that took part in the recent adidas Women´s Race 5 km – from 937 in 2008 to 1282 in 2009.

Talking about this, Jiri Necasek, PIM´s Marketing Director, said: “You only have to pick up a women´s magazine, or visit a gym, to see how many women in the Czech Republic, irrespective of their age, are beginning to take fitness more seriously and to see the benefits that training, even for a 5k race can bring to them; losing weight, improving their skin and looking younger. With recent figures in the CR showing more than 1 million people that are clinically obese, we should all be encouraging each other to get fitter, and what better way to do this than to run – especially if there is an additional motivation of a competition along the way. We hope that by encouraging women to run, they may also persuade their partners and families to get running too!”

The PIM Women´s Challenge is the first of many new initiatives that PIM is launching for 2010. With the Hervis Prague Half Marathon just a few months away, in March, 2010, all those ladies out there need to start registering!

Registration for the PIM Women´s Challenge opens on 1st December, 2009. Keep an eye on the website for ongoing information: www.praguemarathon.com.
