Two months ago, local tabloid Blesk allegedly received a selfie of an unidentified girl in bed with Jaromir Jagr, asking how much they’d be willing to pay for it.

Blesk, perhaps surprisingly, declined to pay for the photo or publish it, writing that “Jagr is a free man […] and can sleep with who he wants.”

When local television station Nova ran the story late last week, however, the floodgates opened.

Nova identified the woman in the photo as 18-year-old “Katka P.”, a Moravian model who, ironically, is currently dating 19-year-old hockey player Dominik Rudl, allegedly a Jagr fan.

The model, displaying some rather poor taste, apparently snapped the selfie and distributed it amongst her friends. According to Blesk, an anonymous source then attempted to blackmail Jagr for 50,000 CZK to prevent distribution of the photo (his purported response: “I don’t care”) before forwarding it to the tabloid circuit.

International media soon picked up the story (many attributing the blackmail attempt to the selfie-taking model), leading to some amusing headlines.

“Jaromir Jagr doesn’t care who sees him in bed with 18-year-old model,” writes the New York Post.

“Someone attempted to blackmail Jaromir Jagr with post-coital selfie, Jagr doesn’t give a shit,” sums up Vice.

Amused denizens social media then began to snap their own Jagr selfies, which quickly turned into a meme; #JagrSelfie is currently trending on Twitter and Instagram.

These pics, however, can’t compete with the real Jagr selfie, which was snapped last year:
