For people covered by Czech public health insurance, keeping up with preventive appointments could eventually bring a payment as well as peace of mind. The Health Ministry wants insurers to reward people aged 45 to 65 who complete the checkups and screening tests available to them.
The proposed payment would range from CZK 500 to CZK 1,500, with each insurer setting its own amount. It is not available yet: The government is expected to discuss the necessary legal amendment in April 2027, and the ministry aims to introduce the reward in 2028.
That leaves a practical question for anyone hoping to qualify: Which appointments would count?
What would you need to do?
The ministry says people would have to complete the preventive checkups and screenings appropriate for their age. Officials mentioned programs for breast, colorectal and prostate cancer, as well as early dementia detection.
That does not mean everyone would need all four tests; which examinations apply depends on factors including age and sex. The ministry has yet to set out a detailed checklist for the proposed payment.
