Seaside trips account for eight in 10 bookings made through travel agency Invia for Czechia’s autumn school holiday period, with Egypt, Turkey and Spain among the most popular destinations, according to company data reported by ČTK on Oct. 7.

The autumn school holidays fall on Thursday, Oct. 29, and Friday, Oct. 30, the Education Ministry’s calendar confirms. Together with the Oct. 28 public holiday and the following weekend, that creates five consecutive days without classes, through Sunday, Nov. 1.

For international families planning around the Czech school calendar, the timing offers an opportunity for a short trip without missing lessons. Invia’s figures, however, describe its own customers’ reservations rather than the travel plans of the Czech population as a whole.

Egypt leads, with bookings averaging CZK 62,000

Egypt is Invia’s most-booked destination for the period. Spokeswoman Jiřina Ekrt Jirušková attributed its popularity to the combination of prices, hotel services, all-inclusive accommodation and the likelihood of sunny weather in late October.

She said autumn temperatures also make visits to ancient monuments more comfortable than during summer heat.

Other sought-after destinations include the Spanish islands of Fuerteventura, Mallorca and Tenerife, the Greek islands of Rhodes and Crete, and Paphos in Cyprus.

According to Invia, seaside stays booked for the autumn holiday period average 14 days—considerably longer than the five-day school break. Customers most often purchase trips two to three weeks before departure.

The average booking value is approximately CZK 62,000. That figure covers an order for a couple or family, rather than a price per person, and does not establish what an individual traveler should expect to pay.

City breaks, thermal baths and Czech mountains offer alternatives

For shorter trips, Invia reported demand for city breaks in Rome, Paris, Brussels, London and Venice. The agency put prices for these packages between CZK 6,000 and CZK 16,000 per person.

Hungarian thermal spa stays are another option, with weekend trips starting at approximately CZK 4,000, according to Invia.

Among customers booking autumn stays within Czechia, the Krkonoše mountains lead. Other popular areas include western Bohemia and Karlovy Vary, the Jizera Mountains and the Beskydy mountains.

Travel companies are also selling summer 2027 holidays. Čedok said Greece, Turkey and Egypt currently lead its summer bookings, while Blue Style reported that customers prioritize all-inclusive hotels, five-star accommodation or beachfront locations.

Families arranging an October trip should distinguish the official two-day school holiday from the wider five-day break. Oct. 28 commemorates the founding of independent Czechoslovakia; the other two non-school days are the weekend. Check the individual school’s calendar before extending a trip beyond those dates.
