Miroslav Dušák brought the brand Omega to the Czech Republic in already in 1994 and represents it up today.
Shoppers along Prague's historic Na Příkopě retail boulevard will spot a number of famous brands that beckon them. Among them is one name that has been visible to the passing crowds for 30 years.
Czech watch and jewelry shop Klenotnictví Dušák, named for master watchmaker Miroslav Dušák, was established in 1992. It has survived the Covid closures and the online sales that presented numerous challenges to the luxury industry to welcome customers back to its brick-and-mortar stores.
Dušák jewelry introduced the Swiss cult luxury brand Omega to the Czech Republic. The family’s business portfolio also includes twenty-three other established and successful brands in Czechia, among them IWC Schaffhausen, Ulysse Nardin, Chopard, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Tag Heuer, and Zenith. It has plans to add others in the future.
"During the shutdown of retail sales, the Covid-19 pandemic also forced the luxury goods segment, which had resisted this trend for quite a long time, to develop e-commerce,” said current owner Zdeněk Kverka, who sees online sales purely as added value.
‘People want to reward themselves, experience something beautiful’
“We are happy that customers have returned to brick-and-mortar stores, which they visit not only for shopping but mainly for experiencing pleasure. People like to take more time for themselves after the pandemic, they want to reward themselves, to experience something beautiful," he said of the store's vision.
Today at Klenotnictví Dušák, the very first visit can begin a long-term relationship, the value of which will over time exceed the price of the new watch on your wrist. Everyone who crosses the threshold of the store feels like a welcome part of the same family, a community of watch lovers.
The store’s current vision is the legacy of its founder Mr. Dušák. He wants to bring the same passion and care to the people who wind and wear his watches every day as he does to the study of the intricate mechanical movements that make them operate.
Mr. Dušák has long observed that for many, watches aren’t just an investment or a display of social status, but an object with deep personal meaning and a reminder of important life events.
Traditional watchmaking that keeps up with the times
Klenotnictví Dušák also places great emphasis on professional service. Watchmakers trained in international service centers combine modern technology with traditional know-how, so customers can be sure that their watches will always be well taken care of.
Due to the current economically and politically unstable situation, the share of sales of all-gold models is increasing and people have begun to perceive watches as an investment, said Kverka. A Dušák watch has lasting value while also being a symbol of lasting values.
