Arena Brno, currently under construction in Brno, is set to become Czechia’s second-largest event venue, with a seating capacity of 13,300 people. Positioned near the city’s exhibition grounds, this state-of-the-art facility is slated for completion by summer 2026.

With a focus on both sports and cultural events, the arena will accommodate major championships and concerts, marking a significant addition to the country’s event infrastructure.

Set to host events like the European handball and volleyball championships, Arena Brno will also provide a home for local ice hockey team Kometa Brno and the Oktagon MMA organization. As the building continues to take shape, city officials are optimistic that it will meet the growing demand for large-scale venues in the region.

Construction progress and timeline

Arena Brno’s construction is advancing steadily, with three out of six planned floors already built. The venue will feature modern amenities, including a large ice rink, dining facilities, and spacious garages.

The arena’s design includes a variety of features to support both sports and entertainment events, making it a versatile addition to Brno’s infrastructure.

Though challenges related to such a large-scale construction project are expected, Brno officials are confident that the venue will be ready for its anticipated opening in the summer of 2026. With demand for space growing, the facility is expected to become a significant hub for major events in the region.

Impact on local events and economy

Once completed, Arena Brno will serve as a key location for high-profile events. The venue is expected to host the 2026 European Women’s Handball Championship, along with the European Women’s Volleyball Championship.

The venue will also host major events from Oktagon, Czechia's largest MMA organization, as well as provide a home for the city's Czech Extraliga hockey team Kometa Brno. Looking ahead, it will also host the 2031 Women’s Handball World Championship.

In addition to sports, the arena aims to draw large concert crowds. Brno has long been in need of a venue capable of accommodating world-class performances, and the Arena Brno is expected to meet this demand. City officials have expressed hopes for hosting a high-profile concert during its opening.

The total cost of constructing Arena Brno is estimated at CZK 4.24 billion, with additional expenses for outfitting the venue expected to bring the total to CZK 4.84 billion.

Significant funding has come from both public and private sources, including a CZK 300 million contribution from the National Sports Agency and a CZK 200 million grant from the South Moravian region. The city itself has also committed substantial resources to the project, ensuring its completion on schedule.

Once completed, the venue will be the second-largest indoor arena in the country after Prague's O2 Arena, which can accommodate 20,000 people. Plans are also in the works to build an even larger arena, with seating capacity of over 22,000, in Pardubice.
