Shoppers from all ages will be able to visit grocery stores and drugstores in the Czech Republic during all hours from tomorrow, May 26, Deputy Prime Minister Karel Havlíček told iDnes.cz this afternoon.
For the past two months, a two-hour window had been reserved for senior citizens at grocery stores and drugstores in the Czech Republic.
From tomorrow, however, stores will be open to all shoppers from all hours.
Prime Minister Andrej Babiš had previously stated that some people had written to him to complain that they did not have enough time for their morning shopping.
“People from Moravia wrote to me that it’s a bit of a problem for them, that they can only shop from 10:00 and that there’s not enough time to cook lunch and so on,” Babiš stated.
In an informal poll on iDnes.cz, readers overwhelmingly responded that the reserved shopping hours for senior citizens did not make sense.
