In a city already known for its cheap beer, it’s always a notable event anytime that beer is about to get even cheaper.

In what the people at Bernard are deeming an annual holiday (slash marketing gimmick) this year’s loftily named Day of Bernard will see pubs and restaurants throughout the Czech Republic and Slovakia that serve the Humpolec-produced brew offering large and small pints for 10 CZK (.40 EUR).

The promotion takes place on Wednesday, October 5 from 17:00 and lasts until midnight; the catch is that you must order food which, if the cheap beer is flowing as it should, might be a good idea anyway.

Beer lovers will also want to get in on the Days of Czech Beer from Sept 23-Oct 1. Presented by the Czech Beer and Malt Association, dozens of breweries throughout the country will participate in the festivities, offering beer-themed menu specials in an effort to promote the consumption of draft beer and traditional Czech pub culture.
