Prague welcomes spring 2023 with the return of Easter markets

March 20 marks the first day of spring 2023, and Prague is celebrating the season with the return of the city's popular Easter markets. Following years of pandemic restrictions that culminated in scaled-back Easter markets last year, this is the first year since 2019 that the markets will run as normal in the Czech capital.

From today, March 20, the Easter market at Prague Castle will open for the spring season. Visitors to the Prague Castle market can look forward to a selection of traditional Czech Easter crafts including painted eggs and whips, along with some other seasonal delicacies.

As of yesterday, the Easter market outside the Anděl metro station is also open. Located in a highly-trafficked pedestrian area, the Anděl market focuses on take-home Easter decor and food items.

Prague's biggest Easter market is located at Old Town Square in the city center, and features dozens of stalls with traditional Easter goods and treats along with a daily programs featuring musical performances and more on stage from 4:00 p.m. daily.

The Old Town Square Easter market also traditionally features a platform with a view overlooking the Square, and plentiful Easter decor including a large maypole located where the Christmas tree stands at the square's Christmas market.

The Old Town Square Easter market will open on March 25. Most of the remaining Easter markets in Prague, including those at Wenceslas Square, Náměstí Míru, and Náměstí Republiky will also open from this date.

Along with the Easter markets, many of Prague's farmers markets have reopened for the spring season this month, with others debuting over the coming weeks. Other seasonal spring markets can also be seen throughout the Czech capital to greet the warmer weather throughout the next months.
