Prague Style: Fall Fashion

We’ve rounded up some of the prettiest autumn pieces on offer at Prague’s smaller, indie shops. Many of these boutiques’ fall/winter collections are just now debuting. We were impressed by the breadth and quality of clothing we discovered. Browse unique scarves, treat yourself to an autumn bauble, or splurge on a top-of-the line jacket. Evergreen is Prague’s first organic fashion store. Here you’ll find smart, hand-stitched styles  – including menswear – in environmentally correct materials like hemp, organic cotton, and ramie wool. Their new autumn collection features coats and sweaters with adorable details (puffed sleeves, giant buttons) and darling dresses, think tweeds and knits, in warm autumn hues with satin piping and other trendy touches. Strong, sustainable clothes with a conscious.

Delicately etched black trees against a cream background give this feminine clutch the chic appeal of French toile and the spooky autumnal air of an Edward Gorey sketch. Incognito Designer’s Room has been featured on the pages of Czech Vogue and Elle. They showcase up-and-coming Israeli designers in a cozy boutique that feels more like a friend’s apartment than a retail space. Incognito’s autumn line-up also includes feminine shawls and calf-skimming sweaters in shades of heather grey and birch-bark brown.

These hand-cut brass earrings with sparrow motif from Flamingo’s park autumn jewelry collection add subtle shimmer and shine to your fall ensemble. A necklace featuring a flock of migrating geese (840 CZK) is the perfect match for these elegant danglers. Flamingo Park’s collection of leather accessories (rings and cuffs) and other stylish add-ons are culled by the owners from all over the world. This year skip the cookie-cutter hat from H&M and opt for a one-of-a-kind style from the Iška Fišárková Design Studio. Their fall accessories do double-duty: this sophisticated, yet cozy, cowl neck collar transforms to a cap, while the stylish cuffs (500 CZK), in matching chunky knit, can also be worn as legwarmers. Additional collars in luxury materials and flapper-inspired hats round out this touchable line of accessories. Though viewings are available by appointment only, Fišárková’s designs are surprisingly affordable – not to mention versatile – and a wonderfully unique option in this city’s sea of synthetic, mass-produced fashion.

Flamingo Park gets another vote for their slouchy suede bags with retro print. Curvy and supple, with plenty of room for packing the essentials, these bags are just the right touch of hobo chic, Annie-Hall style. Their fall collection also includes slick weather-proof PVC bucket bags in black with white and grey geometric circles pattern or black with electric-hued geometric circles pattern (1,280 CZK).

Though she isn’t exactly located nearby  –  Marketa works out of her studio in NYC – this Czech-born fashion designer will happily ship to Prague. Her scarflettes are adorable: neck warmers in luxe materials like cashmere with lambskin trim and right-now prints like plaid. Warm and functional, they add an unconventional twist to your outfit. Also try the kinky leather lariat cowls – without a doubt putting the sexy back in the autumn season.
