In what is quickly becoming one of the Czech capital’s most electrifying holiday traditions, the Krampus Show is getting ready to once again transform Výstaviště Prague in Holešovice into a roaring underworld of fire, smoke, and devilish delight.

For one night only, this chilling spectacle will unleash 200 Krampus creatures—the half-goat, half-demon enforcers of Alpine folklore who punish the naughty and terrify the brave—across the city’s expansive exhibition grounds on Nov. 29.

Now celebrating its fifth year, the Krampus Show promises to be bigger and louder than ever. These mythical beasts will descend upon Prague from around Central Europe, including two renowned Austrian groups known for their monstrous masks, rattling chains, and thundering cowbells. Czech participants, meanwhile, are poised to debut new, hair-raising costume tricks.

What to expect

Krampus Photo Zone

From 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., visitors can take snaps with the Krampus characters in the Rychta area next to Artyčok Bistro. Pose with up to three Krampus devils in a private five-minute session – the perfect opportunity for a spooky selfie or group shot.

Family Show

Starting at 4:30 p.m. (doors open at 3 p.m.), the Krampus Family Show offers a gentler introduction to the devilish festivities that’s geared toward children aged 3–15 and their parents. A parade featuring up to 150 Krampus characters will run until 6 p.m. in the meadow behind the Křižík Pavilions.

Night Show

Once darkness falls, the Krampus truly break free. The Night Show invites thrill-seekers aged 15 and up to a heart-pounding procession filled with fire, noise, and chaos across a 500-meter parade route. The action starts at 8 p.m. and continues until 9:30 p.m. (Doors open at 7 p.m.) This year introduces a bold new feature: “Hell’s Cauldron,” an exclusive adults-only zone where the devils show no mercy.

Devilish delights

From fiery performances to the aroma of roasted treats, the Krampus Show is as much a feast for the senses as it is a test of nerves. Warm up with mulled wine or a hot punch and refuel on “devilish sausages” from the food stalls, which will be open throughout the event.

Participation and tickets

Attendees are encouraged to don their own devilish costumes or masks, enhancing the immersive atmosphere and celebrating the spirit of Krampusnacht. Costumes not only add to the fun but also connect participants to a longstanding cultural tradition passed down through generations. Costume accessories like light-up horns are available for purchase as well.

Understanding the Krampus legend

Rooted in centuries-old Alpine folklore, the mythical Krampus plays a key role in the holiday season. This devil-like creature is said to accompany St. Nicholas when he visits children on Dec. 5, known as Krampusnacht. Krampus playfully punishes the naughty, while St. Nicholas rewards the good.

This tradition has been celebrated for centuries in countries like Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic, symbolizing the balance of reward and discipline during the holidays.

Whether you’re coming for family fun or a spine-tingling adventure, the Krampus Show 2025 at Výstaviště is an unforgettable way to kick off the holiday season—equal parts folklore, fire, and fright.
