A veteran DJ and producer he had his own Friday night radio show on Radio Monaco for eight years. Here, he recommends his favorite under-the-radar Prague venues:

“Wildt returns to the roots of social gathering through musical and drink enjoyment in an organic climate. Relatively new on the scene, Wildt’s music policy is to support young up and coming local DJ’s that play anything from funk soul and nu-disco to house and techno and all the variations in between. Just in time for the summer as they have a beautiful garden terrace with DJ’s spinning.”

“Gently cramped club space for the open-minded. Born in Prague. Former soap factory. Raised with love. Happy and sad. A late-night club albeit a bit far out of the center, their music policy is contemporary electronic music, from house to techno and more.”

“Live music venue for rock punk experimental bands that also hosts a lot of independent house, techno, and break parties. Very new on the scene, it’s based in the same warehouse as the well-known Nákladové nádraží Žižkov indoor and outdoor abandoned train station.” [Note: While it was recently announced that the station is closing down, Theremin is due to remain open.]

“A space for everything rave: Situated in the heart of the Vietnamese market by the river in Prague 7 this used to be an old meat factory, you can still see the gutters down the middle of the main room. Now a venue that hosts pretty much anything but notably a lot of underground techno parties. The music policy is dependent on the night and the promoters.”

“Music, drinks, and dancing in a place hidden in the middle of a street in the heart of Žižkov; not new to the Prague scene but a thoroughly established venue amongst the local DJ’s. Music is contemporary and electronic.

“Not underground, but a new club with a pretty impressive music policy plus 588 m2 dedicated to art and a place where you can eat and drink at the bar, dance, enjoy a concert, a debate or a screening.”

Not a club, but definitely a good spot to start your evenings, with a sneaker shop, record shop, cinema, dance school, and bistro but also a bar with an international roster of resident and local DJ’s on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights until 10pm, this is the perfect place to start your night out, or just to meet up with some friends for some drinks, burgers, and great music.
