Czechia’s stretch of warm autumn weather is expected to end Thursday, when cloud cover and rain spread across most of the country, according to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ).

Until then, temperatures will remain above average, with afternoon highs reaching around 24 degrees Celsius in places.

Warm days, chilly mornings

Mornings may already feel distinctly autumnal. Temperatures fell to around 3 degrees Celsius in some areas Saturday, while the Kvilda-Perla weather station in the Šumava mountains recorded nearly minus 4 degrees.

Fog appeared mainly in western and northwestern Bohemia but was expected to clear by midday. Similar sunny and warm conditions should continue through Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Rain and cooler temperatures ahead

Conditions will change Thursday, Oct. 8, with overcast skies and rain or showers forecast across much of Czechia. Rainfall should gradually ease, but temperatures will continue to fall.

By next weekend, daytime highs are expected to reach only 11 to 16 degrees Celsius.

The rain will arrive during an unusually dry year. The first nine months of 2026 were the third driest such period since 1961, with the nationwide rainfall deficit reaching approximately 150 liters per square meter.

Current forecasts and weather warnings are available from ČHMÚ.
