Is it a bar or a club? A cafe or a gallery? Perhaps it’s a cinema but maybe a boutique. How about all of the above?

Prague has seen its fair share of multi-function culture spaces spring up over the past couple years, a few just this summer alone, combining all the elements of a perfect party (food, drink, and music) with something for culture vultures (installations, exhibits, and theater).

With enough converted industrial spaces and historic buildings among them to satisfy even the pickiest scenester—i.e. those who make the rounds at Karlín Barracks, Pragovka, Přístav 18600, Nákladové Nádraži Žižkov—a couple new entries have come across our radar just in time for making weekend plans in Prague:

This Vinohrady space in a pre-war “činžák” is comprised of three vastly different floors housing an art studio and cinema, an area for live music, and a cafe and acting school “living room” in a First Republic-era apartment reportedly once inhabited by Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk himself.

“DriveHouse was created as a place where we want to play and do everything that we enjoy without boundaries. We have created a club, where everyone can express themselves in a free and safe environment,” say founders.

A garden is currently under construction and the attic space recently began hosting midnight horror movies.

They’re not joking about the clubhouse part, though, you actually have to become a member to hang out here. Follow DriveHouse on Facebook to find out how as well as keep up to date on events; the next is a July 29 dance party.

A multi-genre space with a sporting twist: Holešovická shaft welcomes artists, gallery-hoppers, and just about anyone who enjoys DJs and outdoor bars but also joggers who need a quick shower following a workout in Stromovka or amateur boxers who want to do a little sparring in the courtyard ring.

Organizers say that their urban oasis between Praha-Bubny railway station and the Výstaviště Exhibition Grounds will soon be opening an attic chill-out space and hosting regular tastings in its fully stocked wine cellar.

The new art space has already exhibited a number of high profile international artists in its gallery; bonfires and food pop-ups are also on the program. This weekend’s events include experimental electro in the courtyard.

Also in the neighborhood, Továrna is worth a mention for its line-up of events; though not new, it is continually opening spaces within its industrial building on Delnicka Street.
