Each week, our editors will be rounding up the best events for the English-speaking community: places to meet new people, test your knowledge, learn something, or just get out of the house.

This week’s calendar runs from June 8–13, with tips for open-air festivals, riverside culture, and green escapes across Prague as summer weather settles in, including the Weekend of Open Gardens and the Bonsai and Japanese Culture Festival. LANGUAGE & LEARNING

  • June 9: Czech archives across the country open to the public with guided tours, exhibitions, and workshops marking International Archives Day celebrations.
  • June 9: Historian Mark Cornwall presents a free English-language lecture at the Institute of Czech Literature exploring queer masculinity in the Bohemian lands between 1930 and 1945.
  • June 9–10: The SpaceBuzz mobile rocket project arrives at Mariánské náměstí, offering a free VR journey to space experience, with school sessions in the morning and public access in the afternoon.
  • June 10: English-language Urban Talks at CAMP feature EUmies Award winners presenting European architecture projects on reuse, temporary spaces, and sustainable design.
  • June 11–13: Rohan Design District in Karlín and along Rohanské nábřeží features architecture tours, talks, exhibitions, and showcases of contemporary Czech design and urban development.
  • June 13–14: Weekend of Open Gardens invites visitors to Prague’s parks and gardens with guided tours, cultural programs, and access to normally closed green spaces.
  • June 15: Czech Craft Club at L’Objet Trouvé combines crafting, Czech language practice, and socializing in a relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop.

Art

  • June 11: DATAS: The Data and the Sovereign opens at Galerie Rudolfinum, exploring surveillance, AI, and digital power through contemporary art.
  • June 11: The new Ivan Sedliský Gallery opens in central Prague, presenting 115 works of the rediscovered Czech painter Ivan Sedliský free of charge.
  • June 12: Biennale Matter of Art 2026 opens across Prague (at the National Gallery) and Pardubice, presenting contemporary art, performances, and installations under the theme Necessary Wishes.
  • June 13: Prague Museum Night opens 60+ museums and galleries across the city, offering free entry, special night programs, concerts, and performances.

FOR FOODIES

  • June 13: Apetit Picnic at Havlíčkovy sady brings food tastings, cooking shows, workshops, local producers, and a relaxed open-air picnic atmosphere.
  • June 13–14: Dyzajn Market at Prague Exhibition Grounds showcases up to 200 designers, handmade goods, fashion, accessories, and local food in an open-air creative market.
  • June 14: MINT Market at Rašínovo nábřeží brings 130+ designers and makers offering handmade fashion, jewelry, accessories, food products, and more.
  • June 14: Experience Italy in Karlín transforms Karlínské náměstí into an Italian market with authentic food, drinks, and a relaxed open-air summer atmosphere.

COMMUNITY

  • All week: Friendship Prague collects unwanted clothing at Žižkovšiška, giving donated items a second life while supporting people in need.
  • All week: The Bonsai and Japanese Culture Festival at Prague Botanical Garden features bonsai exhibitions, tea ceremonies, workshops, and traditional Japanese arts.
  • June 9: Petrské slavnosti celebrates Petrská district’s anniversary with neighborhood activities, a design market, concerts, tours, workshops, and access to the Petrská bell tower.
  • June 12–13: Merkádo Latin American Festival transforms Holešovice Market into a celebration of Latin culture with markets, music, dance, and workshops.
  • June 12–14: Experience Tunisia in Prague at Galerie Harfa, with a free cultural program featuring music, food, traditions, and live performances.

ENTERTAINMENT

  • June 8: British musician Baxter Dury performs at Roxy with his signature blend of indie, spoken-word lyrics, and modern dance-driven production.
  • June 9: Garbage perform at Lucerna Palace, returning to Prague after 20 years to play a mix of classic hits and new material from Let All That We Imagine Be The Light.
  • June 10: The Organ Grinders' Festival fills Prague with mechanical barrel organ music across three venues, featuring free concerts from Old Town Square to the Czech Museum of Music.
  • June 13: Joost Klein brings his genre-blending live show to Forum Karlín, mixing hardcore, punk, pop, and dance energy in an explosive performance.
  • June 13–14: Respect Festival brings world music, colors, and global rhythms to Štvanice Island, featuring international artists and open-air concerts.

Sports

  • June 11–13: The 1000 Miles of Czechoslovakia historic car race starts in Prague and follows a 1930s route to Bratislava, returning with a finish and showcase at the National Technical Museum.
  • June 11: Archirun Club’s beginner-friendly Petřín Funicular run combines light exercise with insights into Prague’s architecture and urban development.

  • June 8: A World Cup football quiz at Saffa Maso Biltong Prague tests knowledge of tournament history ahead of 2026 kickoff.
  • June 9: The weekly pub quiz at Philly & Co’s Original Cheesesteaks presents general trivia covering topics from music to sport every Tuesday from 7 p.m.
  • June 9: Manifesto Market hosts an open-air general knowledge quiz night every other Tuesday, with teams competing across a range of topics.
  • June 10: The Under the Sauce Pub Quiz takes place on Wednesdays at Third Coast Pizza in Žižkov, now in an open-air garden for the summer.
  • June 10: Now in its 17th year, The Globe Quiz Night takes place at Globe Bookstore & Café every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m.
