Hello fellow expat! How are you today?
As someone who has been an expat pretty much all her life, I understand how difficult it can be at times. Especially for us third-culture kids (those who grew up away from our parents’ culture.) You end up forming such a complex identity that it can at times feel like you belong everywhere but also nowhere at the same time. You try to fit into two (or more) worlds at once. And it can be exhausting. Add onto that if you find a partner outside your culture and, well, either way, it is truly an adventure.
I am Lea, a psychologist and systemic family psychotherapist under supervision.
With this type of psychotherapy the entire system and the influences they have on an individual are kept in mind, such as relationships, family history, lifestyle, culture, trans-generational factors, etc. This form of psychotherapy can offer support in coping with many types of difficulties including conflicts in family relationships, communication problems, life transitions, cultural adaptation, lack of emotional regulation, adjustment problems, issues with self-esteem, difficulties caused by acculturation gaps, issues with identity, attachment problems, anxiety, depression, problems at school/work, or simply a general feeling of dissatisfaction with life.
Psychotherapy with me is collaborative where you are the expert and I am simply there to help guide you through life’s storms. Together we will form goals and work towards achieving them where I will always keep your feedback in mind on how to best tailor the sessions to what you find the most helpful.
I offer both individual and couples psychotherapy via online sessions. Sessions being online means you may get to hear or even meet my kitty (photo found below.) Please let me know if this is a problem for you so I can take precautions.
Sessions are available in English or Serbian (naški.)
Feel free to get in touch! Have a good day :)
