More than 2.4 million people in Czechia meet the medical criteria for modern weight-loss drugs. However, only around 80,000 to 100,000 are actually using them. The reason is not hard to identify – the cost. Most prescriptions for obesity are paid for out of pocket, and can set patients back several thousand crowns per month. 

At the same time, interest is steadily rising. Sales have surged in recent years, making medications like Ozempic and Wegovy firmly part of the healthcare conversation.
