While more than half a million people in the Czech Republic now work part-time, the country continues to lag significantly behind its European neighbors.

New data from the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) and Eurostat, reported by Czech Television, reveals that while the domestic flexible labor market is growing, systemic hurdles and employer preferences for "brigáda" contracts remain.

By the end of last year, approximately 514,200 people held part-time positions as their main employment. This represents a 6.4 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024. Despite this growth, part-time workers make up just 9.8 percent of the total Czech workforce, far below the European Union average of over 17 percent.
