The second annual Prague Ice Cream Festival took place this past weekend at Výstaviště Praha in Holešovice. Over six thousand people attended the event, which offered a sampling of scoops from international and local cremeries.

Gold, silver, and bronze medals were also awarded to a handful of Prague and the Czech Republic’s top ice cream makers. The jury was comprised of actors Jakub Žáček and Jana Plodková among other celebs, magazine editors, and the mayor of Prague 7.

Jurors awarded honors to the following flavors:

Crème de la Crème Prague for vanilla ice cream (gold), Farm Shop St. Ann (based in Stará Boleslav but has reuglar stands at Prague farmers’ markets) for chocolate goat’s milk (silver), and Patisserie Tutti Fruttiza (Brno) for kiwi with basil (bronze).

The audience got in on the voting, too with bronze going to Gelateria & Caffe Amato, silver to MEC3 an ice cream maker based in Kunratice, and Crème de la Crème Prague winning gold again, for best ice cream overall.

Next year’s event will take place the last Sunday before Summer 2017; a Bratislava outing is in the works for September.
