In 2026, what really counts as a ‘good’ salary in Czechia?

With the country’s cost of living edging higher, people nationwide need to earn more to feel comfortable: but how much is enough?

Although salaries are rising in Czechia, so too is the country’s cost of living. Since 2020, inflation has skyrocketed, with real wages not nearly catching up with price increases.

For a single person in Prague, this means that monthly incomes below roughly CZK 55,000 (gross) are increasingly stretched by housing costs, while salaries above CZK 65,000 offer a noticeably more comfortable standard of living.

This matters particularly for foreigners. Expats are more likely to rent, live alone, and rely on a single income, making headline salary figures a poor guide to real living standards.
