The Night of Castles (Hradozámecká noc) returns this year on the evening of August 27, with a number of chateaux, palaces, and fortresses in Prague and beyond opening their gates to the public during off-hours and hosting a variety of activities and entertainment to add to the already enchanted atmosphere.

In Prague you can explore Chvalský Zámek and the gardens below Prague Castle. In some cases admission is waived but depending on the destination, regular entry fees may apply.

Newly added to the list of Prague chateaux this year is Zámek Slovanka in Hlubočepy, a small 18th-century chateau behind Barrandov that will host a lantern and candlelight evening.

Noteworthy destinations outside of Prague include Dobříš, Konopiště, and Karlštejn, this year’s flagship castle, where costumed tours, theater, concerts, a fire show, and jousting tournament are scheduled to take place. Opening times range from 6pm-10pm with many events continuing until 2am.

For the complete list of participating castles and their accompanying programs, see here.

The evening is organized by the Ministry of Czech Culture.
