It is a personal approach shaped by founder Eric Lemieux’s own experience of building a life abroad. Having learned firsthand how unfamiliar even everyday services can feel in a new country, Easy Optic offers a place where Czech and international clients can access eye examinations, personalized advice, quality lenses and carefully selected frames under one roof.
“Buying glasses should be more than simply choosing a frame and paying for it,” he explains. “Your glasses are something you use every day, and your vision has an enormous impact on your quality of life.” Since opening in 2013, Easy Optic has focused on making professional eye care clear and personal from the moment a client arrives.
A clearer experience for international residents
Originally from France, Lemieux spent much of his career on international assignments before his final posting brought him to Prague. He came to value the atmosphere, international character and quality of life in Czechia’s capital, eventually choosing it as the place to settle and start a business.
“Being an expat means constantly adapting to new environments, cultures and ways of doing things,” Lemieux explains. “It can sometimes be challenging, but it is also a very enriching experience.”
Lemieux saw room in Prague’s optical market for a service combining online convenience with personal guidance. Customers can browse eyewear online, use the virtual mirror to preview frames and then visit the shop for an examination and advice suited to their vision, lifestyle and personal style.
From the beginning, Easy Optic operated in Czech and English, with services also available in Russian and Lemieux’s native French. Its location in Vinohrady, an area with a strong international community, made the multilingual approach a natural fit.
What to expect during an eye examination
A first visit begins with a conversation rather than a sales pitch. The team asks about the client’s current vision, any recent changes and how they use their eyes throughout the day.
“We don’t start by trying to sell them glasses,” Lemieux emphasizes. “We start by understanding the person.”
A standard examination takes approximately 20–30 minutes and assesses the client’s vision and prescription using modern diagnostic equipment. The team then explains the results and recommends appropriate lenses.
“There isn’t one ‘best’ lens or frame for everyone,” Lemieux adds. “The right solution depends on the individual, their eyes, lifestyle, preferences and what they expect from their glasses.”
Options include standard prescription lenses, solutions for digital work, contact lenses and progressive lenses from manufacturers such as ZEISS and Essilor. The store also provides contact-lens fittings and specialized myopia-management lens solutions for children.
