Czechs are making more on-line purchases than ever in 2016, according to data from the Association for Electronic Commerce.

Meanwhile a report in today’s Metro.cz. indicates that despite the upturn in orders, the number of delivery drivers is shrinking, meaning that you should order gifts and send holiday packages sooner rather than later this year.

But there’s still time to ensure that no one is empty-handed come December 24th; here are the cut-off dates for ordering from major Czech e-shops and the postal service:

Alza.cz: Order by December 22 and you can pick up at its Holešovice flagship until 12pm on Christmas Day.

Mall.cz: Order by December 22; chose in-store delivery and personal pick up in order to get the gift before Christmas; their pick-up center is also open until noon on December 24.

Česká pošta: For domestic parcels you have until Tuesday, Decemeber 20 at 4:30 pm (though some branches may have an even earlier deadline) in order to guarantee delivery by December 24.

Additional tips:

-Most shipping companies will guarantee delivery on orders placed at least ten days prior to Christmas.

-Late shoppers should pay via credit card on-line and pick up your order up in person at a distribution center as opposed to opting for delivery.

-A representative from Zaslat.cz an online logistics agency says that when ordering goods from abroad the deadline is December 18; when sending items abroad factor in 10 working days before Christmas (which would be today).

SpeedeGo is a logistics carrier that still has spaces available for shipping your small packages to points across Europe (Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, North France) for the next day or two.

-Shoppers should also keep in mind a new law which dictates that shops over 200 sq meters can only be open until noon on December 24; shops must close entirely on December 25.

-For extreme procrastinators, Mall.cz will offer same-day December 24 delivery throughout Prague and the regional capitals.
