Career opportunities continue to be a top reason why foreigners relocate to Czechia, with the capital of Prague employing as many as 283,000 expat employees, according to a report from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs from 2024. But finding a job is only the first step; finding a workplace that offers stability, understanding, and human connection is a whole other challenge, and one that often determines whether a city starts to feel like home.

For some expats, the office becomes a place to build routines, friendships, and confidence in a new country. That is where companies like BlueLink International CZ set themselves apart. Employees there feel there is real consistency, trust, and attention to how people experience their working day, which impacts the success of the business overall.

It’s factors like this that helped the international customer relations company earn a certification as a Best Place to Work in Czechia for 2024-2025, an award grounded in employee feedback and workplace culture standards. Expats.cz spoke with some of the company’s international staff to understand how a people-first culture shapes daily work life, career growth, and a sense of belonging far beyond the job itself.

A calm office environment brimming with diversity

As an international customer relations company supporting global brands, BlueLink operates in a fast-paced environment where empathy, clarity, and consistency matter. That pressure makes workplace culture especially visible and especially important.

You might expect a busy customer relations center providing services to global brands to be loud and chaotic, but that isn’t the case here. Despite the demands of a customer relations operation serving global brands, the space feels measured and welcoming, with bright interiors and a visibly international mix of colleagues.

“I was looking for a position in a multicultural environment,” explains Nicolas, a client advisor originally from Paris. After living in Prague for almost 10 years, he appreciates the way the office strikes a balance between productivity and well-being.

“There are lots of shared spaces, including kitchens, quiet rooms, and even a games room, where you can take a break, recharge, or connect with colleagues,” he adds. “It’s a great mix of energy and calm.”

When BlueLink came knocking with “a career that combined travel, culture, and helping people,” Fiorella packed her bags and moved to Prague on a week’s notice. Not knowing enough Czech felt intimidating at first, but she quickly realized the community nature of the office instantly supported her.

“Hearing colleagues speak my language was reassuring, as I had only arrived in Prague the night before,” she reminisces. “The warm welcome from both my colleagues and Team Leaders set a positive tone from the very beginning.”

The Belgian expat’s role has grown since her first day in 2022. Now a BlueLink team leader, she feels like the atmosphere here hasn’t changed. “Every day brings the chance to connect with people from different backgrounds,” she adds. “I love the diversity of cultures and languages. It’s like a small, vibrant world filled with amazing people.”

Training, mentorship, and emotional support to stay grounded

Customer relations involves solving problems, which can make the job intense at times. BlueLink’s internal support culture helps employees deliver sympathetic service under pressure, often manifesting in interdepartmental camaraderie, which helps colleagues feel more confident overall.

Pietro, from southern Italy, moved to the Czech Republic to work at another company before switching to BlueLink. “Once, shortly after I had finished a customer conversation, a team leader took the time to come over and say: ‘Well done, that was a great call.’ That simple recognition made me feel valued and reassured.”

This kind of encouragement helps the client advisor manage complicated situations and constant pressure. “Over time, this maturity has allowed me to remain calm even when faced with stressful circumstances,” he adds. BlueLink also offers mental health programs, including workshops, therapy sessions, and wellness initiatives, for additional support.

The office also provides more casual ways to blow off steam. “My true ‘anti-stress' outlet is the foosball table,” Pietro explains. “Apart from the laughter and the healthy competition, those fifteen minutes are a social glue and a mental reset.”

Camila, a former client advisor, was “immediately attracted to the international environment" at BlueLink, having lived in Chile, Spain, and Australia before moving to Czechia. She quickly advanced to become a deputy team leader, feeling supported “from day one.”

“During my first days, I had an unpleasant interaction with a customer,” she elaborates. “A colleague noticed, helped me calm down, and shared tips to prevent escalation. She said, ‘We’re in this together. Let me know if you need any help.’ That moment made me feel truly understood and appreciated.”

Openly discussing challenging situations with colleagues and her Team Leader also makes a difference to Camila. “Sharing experiences gives me perspective, helps me learn new techniques, and creates a safe space to find solutions together.”

A rich social life in and out of work

Culture is often a stabilizer for many companies, and the most successful know how important it is to offer employees opportunities that fuel their passions in and out of work. BlueLink provides a space for colleagues to connect through clubs, social events, volunteer programs, and more, fostering a sense of community and resilience.

Laureanne, from rural France, feels it’s easy for newcomers to feel integrated, where senior colleagues often look after them.

Each person has their role and importance. Everyone matters,” she explains. “We’re an expat family, and I keep meeting extraordinary people here.”

Everyone at BlueLink has different examples of how they have bonded outside of work. “In my unit, we have a hiking group. When my schedule allows, I join the walks and get to know colleagues better outside of work,” Laureanne states, adding that many of her close friends are or were colleagues.

A self-proclaimed “good Italian” with a love of good food and wine, Pietro helps organize dinners and barbecues, which create “a relaxed atmosphere and allow us to connect beyond the workplace.” For Fiorella, BlueLink has provided opportunities to pursue her passion for environmental initiatives, while the company’s Latin community has become a meaningful part of Camila’s life. In her words, it’s “a vibrant, supportive community” where she feels at home.

Success means putting people first

The Czech business services sector continues to expand, drawing international talent to Prague in large numbers, making BlueLink’s certification as a Best Place to Work in Czechia for 2024 more than strong internal metrics.

For the expats working there, the impact is practical and personal. Support shows up in everyday interactions, clear career pathways, and the confidence to navigate both work and life in a new country. It is this consistency, from first day reassurance to long-term growth, that turns a job into a reason to stay.
