You've checked who owns the property. You know who is selling it and what rights come with it. You have confirmed that the apartment or house can legally be used as you expect.

But buying a property means taking on more than the walls, roof and land. You may also inherit restrictions, obligations, defects or even other people's rights.

A property can look perfect during a viewing and still hide expensive problems. Some are visible; others only emerge from the Land Registry, planning documents, building records or a professional inspection.
