A passenger train partly derailed this morning in Holešov in the Zlín region after colliding with a truck, resulting in 10 injuries, according to the regional rescue service. The driver of the truck was seriously injured, but the other injuries were minor.

The accident occurred at 7:15 a.m. The train was heading from Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in the Vsetín district to Kojetín in the Přerov district. The Railway Administration tweeted that the accident was probably caused by the inattentiveness of the truck driver. About 50 people were on the train at the time of the accident.

Rail traffic on regional line 303 between Holešov and Bystříčí pod Hostýn in the Kroměříž district is suspended, and replacement buses are running, the Czech Railways website said. The restrictions should end at 3:13 p.m.

The rescue service sent five crews to the accident. Firefighters announced the second of four levels of fire alarm in connection with the accident. "The commander of the intervention called an evacuation bus from the station in Zlín to the scene. The uninjured passengers got on it and the bus took them to another train station," regional fire department spokeswoman Lucie Javoříková said on Facebook.

After the impact, operating fluids leaked out of the truck in large quantities. Firefighters stopped the leakage, and "secured the derailed train against further movement. The railway firefighters from Přerov arrived at the scene of the accident and took over command. Firefighter units from the Zlín region began to return to their bases," Javoříková said.
