But while Prague Zoo does sell fertilizer and paper products made from elephant dung, they’re careful to note that no actual elephant waste is contained in this creatively-named product.
So if it’s not fermented elephant urine, then what, exactly, is in a bottle of Sloní moč?
“It’s a really unique recipe,” the Zoo states in the product description, revealing little.
The liquor offers a “combination of fine spirits with the distinctive taste of carefully selected herbs.”
Samplers have likened the taste to be something “slightly reminiscent” to the popular Czech aperitif (and digestif) Becherovka.
A half-liter bottle of Elephant Urine runs 185 CZK. Note: while Prague Zoo’s e-shop has the liquor up for sale, bottles must be picked up in person from the Zoo.
