Prague firefighters plan to deploy a recovery tank Thursday, Oct. 8, to free a truck stuck beneath a railway bridge on Vídeňská Street after earlier attempts to remove it failed.
The truck was carrying a drilling rig on a low-loader trailer when it became wedged under the bridge Wednesday evening. No one was injured, but the drilling equipment was damaged.
Vídeňská Street remained closed in the direction away from the city center, according to firefighters’ latest information reported by ČTK on Thursday morning.
Heavy equipment failed to free the truck
Three firefighting units responded to the incident. Crews contained leaking vehicle fluids and attempted to free the truck using heavy recovery equipment.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday, fire service spokesman Miroslav Řezáč said recovery work was being planned. He later confirmed that the vehicle could not be freed and that a recovery tank would be needed Thursday.
Outbound road closure continues
Firefighters have not released an estimate of the damage or a confirmed reopening time for the busy road.
Drivers heading out of the city along Vídeňská should allow extra time and check current traffic conditions before departure.
