If you’ve taken a stroll down Jindřišská during the past few months, you’ve probably seen signs for the boldly-designed new restaurant NaGrilu in the space previously occupied by Mailsi.

The restaurant has been “opening soon” for months, but is finally ready to open its doors for customers on Tuesday, August 11.

NaGrilu is the first restaurant venture from Czech cola manufacturer Kofola, one of the Czech Republic’s most recognizable brands. The company has experienced a resurgence in recent years thanks to innovative marketing campaigns.

As the name implies, NaGrilu (“On the grill”) will specialize in grilled meats, along with soups, sandwiches, desserts, Kofola’s range of beverages, and juices from the UGO brand.

It’s a new concept in the Czech fast food market, and the Jindřišská location is the first of what may be many. Kofola hopes to open “dozens” of more locations within the Czech and Slovak Republics in the five years, according to Hospodářské noviny.

Two years ago, the company purchased UGO and Mangaloo, chains of smoothie & salad locations that offer refreshingly health-conscious options compared to other local fast food venues. Under Kofola, UGO has been expanding their presence throughout Prague, with a number of new locations.

Now, Kofola is introducing a new player on the Czech fast food market. While the menu options at NaGrilu don’t sound as healthy as those at UGO, the company promises to place an emphasis on “freshness, local suppliers, and fast service”
