The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute has issued a warning for very high temperatures throughout the Czech Republic this weekend, including the Prague region. Areas in the northwest part of the country are spared from the most severe warnings.

An updated map of weather warnings for regions within the Czech Republic can be found at the website of the Hydrometeorological Institute (in Czech).

The map will be continually updated throughout the weekend as new data comes in.

A warning of “very high temperatures” is in effect for most regions on Saturday from 12:00 to 21:00, for areas less than 600m above sea level.

From today through Sunday, a warning of “high temperatures” is in effect for most regions.

It won’t all be sun, however: strong storms are also forecast for most areas throughout the weekend.

Saturday night features the greatest probability for thunderstorms – which include heavy rain, hail, and strong gusts of wind – in Eastern Bohemia, reports iDnes.

If you’re spending extended amounts of time outdoors this weekend – at the Colours of Ostrava festival, for example – it’s advised to come well-prepared for the extreme weather.
