German carrier Condor Airlines has officially begun operations from Václav Havel Airport in Prague, introducing a new route to Frankfurt that will run twice daily. The service, launched on May 1, is expected to significantly enhance Prague’s connectivity to long-haul international destinations, while also bringing down ticket prices for global travel.

The new route offers morning and evening flights both to and from Frankfurt, serviced by Airbus A321neo and A320 aircraft. The timing of these flights is designed to align with Condor’s wide-ranging long-haul connections out of Frankfurt, providing Czech travelers with greater access to North America, Africa, and other regions previously underserved by direct routes from Prague.

Improved access to long-haul destinations

While Frankfurt is already served from Prague by Lufthansa, the entry of Condor introduces competition on the route and expands options for travelers looking to connect beyond Europe.

Condor’s Frankfurt hub links to destinations such as Boston, New York, Panama City, Johannesburg, and Anchorage, and recent fare listings have shown prices well below typical rates—sometimes under CZK 10,000 for round-trip tickets.

According to Jiří Vyskoč, director of aviation business development at Prague Airport, the route was introduced not only to enhance direct access to Frankfurt but also to leverage Condor’s intercontinental network. The airline’s growing focus on city tourism was cited as one reason for adding Prague to its schedule, along with other Central European cities like Vienna.

The Prague–Frankfurt flights depart daily at 8:50 a.m. and 5:50 p.m., with return flights from Frankfurt at 6:40 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. This schedule allows for convenient same-day onward connections to numerous long-haul flights.

Part of wider summer expansion at Prague Airport

Condor’s debut in Prague comes amid broader growth in air travel for the 2025 summer season. Prague Airport is forecasting record traffic, with more than 18 million passengers expected this year.

The airport currently offers connections to 165 destinations through 75 airlines, and its summer timetable includes new or expanded routes operated by Asiana Airlines, Air Canada, Etihad Airways, and Croatia Airlines, among others.

This summer, Prague’s connectivity to cities like Seoul, Toronto, and Abu Dhabi will be boosted, and additional capacity is being added on routes to Southern Europe and the Baltics. The airport is also seeing larger aircraft deployed on select lines and more frequent weekly flights, reflecting strong passenger demand.

Condor’s presence adds to this trend by offering a new gateway to intercontinental travel from Prague via Frankfurt. The airline’s positioning as a leisure-focused carrier with competitive pricing is likely to appeal to both individual travelers and tour operators.
