On Jan. 1, 2026, an amendment to the Czech decree on preventive check-ups came into force, bringing what the country's medical community is calling the biggest overhaul to GP screenings since the 1990s.

The frequency of your two-yearly appointment with your general practitioner (GP) has not changed, but what happens during that visit, and what you are entitled to claim as a result, has changed significantly.
