Ostrava, North Moravia, Oct 28 (CTK) – The Ostrava-Opava Bishop took off duty a priest from Detmarovice, north Moravia, who was caught in a hotel in Poland seeking sex with a young man, the local paper Denik, the server iRozhlas.cz and Czech Television (CT) said today.
According to Polish media, the priest arranged a meeting with an underage boy in Katowice. He was questioned by the Polish police.
The priest said he was caught in a prepared trap.
“The priest himself informed us about the fact. He is aware that he acted in contradiction with his obligations of a priest, apologised for the outrage he had caused and resigned himself from all his posts,” diocese spokesman Pavel Siuda has said.
Bishop Martin David has accepted the resignation and taken the priest off duty instantly.
The priest met the man on the Internet, iRozhlas said.
However, a police agent came instead to the meeting as well as the police who were tipped by a Polish activist who watches online paedophile networks. He also shot the video footage with a hidden camera.
