SCIS consists of three parts: an English Kindergarten (ages 2-6), a bilingual Elementary School (first stage Grades 1-5 and second stage Grades 6-9), and a bilingual High School (grades 10-13, projected to open in 2014). In the Elementary and High Schools, approximately half of the teaching is done in Czech and half in English. The maximum class size is 20 students. This private school is located in a suburb of Prague with a modern school building, a large garden and playground, and a forest nearby. About 90% of children come from Czech families and 10% from various nationalities or multilingual families. We have a unique bilingual curriculum, approved by the Czech Ministry of Education, which focuses on installing a joy of learning in all students. Teachers are urged and expected to use interactive, hands-on instruction.
