Britain announced this week that migrants will need A-level English to work in the UK. With Czechia’s next government skeptical of migration, could it follow suit? Not likely.

The Czech Republic stands on the threshold of its largest labor shortage since World War II. Each year, roughly 30,000 more people retire than enter the job market, according to Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ) projections, a demographic crisis that threatens key economic sectors.

According to the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MPSV) data, more than one million foreign workers already keep logistics, manufacturing, and construction running. Restrictive immigration policies would make this imbalance even more dangerous.
