This weekend in Prague: Anastacia and Lord of the Dance are here after a long wait

Plus: Get some holiday shopping done at special markets, see some classic films on the big screen, or attend devil parades.

Music by Milky Chance has had over 5 billion streams online. The duo of guitarist/singer Clemens Rehbein and bassist/percussionist Phillipp Dausch have a new single and will be at Forum Karlín on Dec. 2.

Finally, after several rescheduled dates, Anastacia will be at O2 universum on Dec. 2. She is known for her massive hits "I'm Outta Love" and "Left Outside Alone" but she has over a dozen Top 40 in her career.

Better known for his work with Swans and Angels of Light, Michael Gira has a solo show at Divadlo Archa on Dec. 3. Aside from music, he has recently been writing short stories as well.

Jazz flutist Jiří Stivín organizes an annual concert in memory of St. Cecilia, the patron of musicians. This year it is on Dec. 4 at Lucerna Music Bar. Many guests are expected to participate in a night of improvisation.

Film melodies from the 1930s and 1940s will be be played by old-time swing band Ondřej Havelka a jeho Melody Makers. Go back in time at Lucerna's Velký sál on Dec. 4.

Folklore-inspired band Čechomor plays two special holiday shows at Divadlo Hybernia on Dec. 4. The evening show is sold out, but an afternoon show has been added to help meet demand.

The long-running Irish dance show Lord of the Dance returns to O2 Arena on Dec. 3. Tickets for previously postponed dates remain valid. The show had been a global hit since the late 1990s.

The residents of a town called Almost, Maine have an event-filled cold winter evening of romantic entanglements. Local actors Marc Cram, Jared Doreck, Jim High, Elissa Levitt, Lauren Mercier, and Sinead Phelps star in the production directed by Abigail Rice. Catch it at Divadlo Na Prádle on Dec. 2, 3, and 5.

UK-based comic George Zacharopoulos headlines a Friday night of comedy on Dec. 2 at Metro Comedy Club.

Berg Orchestra and dance troupe 420People collaborate on InspiraCe, a performance mixing minimalism, beatbox, dubstep, and contemporary dance. The next show is on Dec. 2 at Divadlo Archa.

Participate in a ballet workshop set to the music of Tchaikovsky at the National Theatre ballet studio at Anenská nám. 2. on Dec. 4 from 10 a.m.

Savor

You get another chance to sample meat-free burgers at vegan burger day. Cross Club on Dec. 3 is hosting a benefit for the collective Food Not Bombs. The burgers are free, but you are encouraged to make a donation.

A family-oriented St. Nicholas Brunch & Beats will have holiday activities for kids and cookie decorating, followed by music on Dec. 4 at Manifesto Anděl.

Holiday shopping

Lya Beer Café in Vršovice has a one-day Maker's Christmas Market on Dec. 3 from noon to 6 p.m. You can find handmade gifts, and the makers themselves will keep all of the proceeds.

The museum Christmas market at the newly renovated Clam-Gallas Palace takes place on Dec. 3. You will find goods made from leather, wood, paper, ceramics, and glass sold by their makers, plus a program for children. Each vendor keeps 100% of their sales.

Come to a holiday book swap at CAMP on Dec. 4. Bring books about architecture or design, and take away the same number. There is a side program as well for those with basic Czech language skills.

Get handmade pottery in front of the Industrial Palace in Výstaviště on Dec. 3 and 4.

A one-day Christmas market at Švandovo divadlo on Dec. 4 also includes puppet shows (in Czech). Entry is free and visitors will get a discount coupon for a performance at the theater. Select performances have English supertitles.

Buy art at ArtBazaar at Pragovka on Dec. 4. You can get unique gifts and support budding artists at the same time. There is also a workshop on making ornaments. Entry is free.

Sv. Mikuláš, devils, and angels

Come to Prague Zoo and see the Tasmanian devils, along with angels and sv. Mikuláš (St. Nicholas). The Bororo Reserve and Darwin Crater will have festive decorations and special programs on Dec. 2 and 3.

Dozens of costumed devils from Czechia and Austria will be at Krampuslauf to scare children at Park Riegrovy sady on Dec. 3. Tickets should be purchased online, as availability at the gate will be limited.

Demons and circus performers will parade in the Great Devil's Expedition starting at KD Mlejn on Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Sv. Mikuláš and his friends will be on the metro A line on Dec. 4 between the Želivského and Dejvická stops from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. as well as at the MHD museum in Střešovice.

The ongoing Lars von Trier retrospective winds down with both parts of Nymphomaniac. Catch up with Charlotte Gainsbourg et al. at Aero on Dec. 2.

See international hit films on the big screen at the KVIFF Classics festival at Ponrepo and Kino Světozor until Dec. 3. All screenings are English-friendly. Highlights include "Singin' in the Rain," "Yojimbo," "The Searchers," and "Two or Three Things I Know About Her…."

The 18th edition of FilmAsia continues with screenings at Bio Oko until Dec. 6. The festival features works by new talents and some restored classics.

Highlights of Italian cinema come together for MittelCinemaFest 2022. The 10th edition is at kino Lucerna from Dec. 2 to 8. The program includes a concert of music by the late Ennio Morricone as well as a new documentary about his career.

The Chinese neo-noir thriller Long Day's Journey into Night has an unbroken 59-minute shot in 3D. The unusual film can be seen at Edison Filmhub on Dec. 2 with English and Czech subtitles. The story is not related to the similarly titled Eugene O'Neill play.
