There's a paradox at the heart of the Czech labor market in 2026.

The economy is growing. Unemployment is rising. And 61 percent of employers still can't find the people they need.

Those are the findings of the latest ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey, which polled 525 Czech employers on their hiring plans for Q2 2026. On paper, the market looks healthy; 32 percent of companies plan to hire. But companies aren't looking to fill seats anymore. They're hunting for very specific people with very specific skills.

"We are in a unique historical situation where the economy is growing, but unemployment is also rising," says Jaroslava Rezlerová, CEO of ManpowerGroup Czech Republic. "The result is a widening gap between what companies actually need and the qualifications and expectations of job seekers — causing frustration on both sides of the market."

For foreign workers, the barriers run even deeper. "The recruitment of foreign workers continues to be hampered by administrative barriers," Rezlerová adds, "and demographics are inexorably reducing the number of people of working age."
