Robbie Williams announced as first performer for Colours of Ostrava 2027

British singer Robbie Williams is coming to the Czech Republic next year and will perform at Colours of Ostrava, festival organizer and spokesman Ondřej Bambas announced today.

Williams, who is the first announced artist for the festival's 2027 edition, will perform on the opening day on July 21.

"Over the course of three decades, he has become one of the most prominent figures in British popular music and the uncrowned king of live entertainment," organizers said.

Williams, who first rose to fame in the early 1990's with the boy band Take That before embarking on a solo career, will be bringing hits from his latest album, 'Britpop', to Ostrava, as well as commemorate 30 years since the release of his debut album 'Life Thru a Lens' that included global hits like 'Angels' and 'Let Me Entertain You'.

The artistic director of the festival, Filip Košťálek, explained why organizers are so thrilled of having secured Robbie Williams' presence next year.

"For more than three decades, he has managed to remain relevant, change, surprise, and at the same time retain his own persona. And it is precisely such personalities that we want to bring to Colours. Artists who have a strong story behind them, great songs, and at the same time can create a moment that people will remember long after the concert," Košťálek said.

With a career spanning three decades and 13 studio albums, 52-year-old Williams holds the record for the amount of number one albums in the history of UK charts, has won a record 18 Brit Award and sold over 75 million records worldwide.

One of the most successful and prominent artists in British pop music, he was the subject of a four-part Netflix documentary series released in 2023 and of the biographical feature musical film Better Man the following year.

He's already performed in the Czech Republic five times, most recently in September last year at Prague's O2 Arena.
