About

The festival grounds, campsite and parking lot are located on 40 hectares of land. Rock for People has been taking place in Hradec Králové since 2007 and we the organizers do their best to gradually improve the festival space for our guests.

The concerts will take place on three large outdoor stages (the t-music stace, the blue stage and the Evropa 2 stage) and three sheltered areas.  Aside from that we´ve decided to put in a few DJ scenes and chill-out zones, which will remain open until early morning.

This year, the festival grounds, along with a wide variety of attractions, resting areas, diverse catering and impeccable hygiene and social atmosphere will have a comfortable capacity of 30 000 people.

Accommodation

There is a large camp site right outside the festival area. The camp site is lit and guarded at all times.  It is also patrolled by the municipal police. The sanitary conditions are better this year.  We have larger shower cabins with warm running water and more portable toilets.

Apart from the music
You are probably coming to Rock for People for the music, but there is a good chance you might need a little break. Therefore, we have arranged a whole variety of things for you to do. There are sports activities, an Internet tent, theatre and cinema performances, chill-out zones, souvenir stands and much more!

JamStage
The JamStage will be open for 3 days from July 4th – 6th, from 2pm until late at night. The program will consist of celebrity jams, interactive drum circles, courses in African dance and concerts by bands that participated in contests organized by Rock for People.

ATM Machine / Česká spořitelna
Česká spořitelna will provide the ATM machine in the Festivalpark area. Its location will be specified on the map of the venue. The ticket offices will be supplied with credit card  terminals to allow festival guests to pay for their tickets by card.

Deposit Room
There will be a deposit room available to campsite residents; on the festival grounds the deposit service will also be available at the entrance. To lower the risk of theft we advise you to leave all your valuables (such as laptops) at home.  Please report any lost or found items directly to the organizers.

Dogs and other animals

The loud festival environment can be stressful for dogs and other pets.  In consideration of their health and the safety of the visitors, dogs and other pets are not allowed to enter the festival grounds.

Environmental program (Recycling)
The environmental program:
The festival itself and the associated thousands of people concentrated in one place is a considerable environmental burden which can lead to a number of problems.  For this reason we´re constantly trying to reduce the festival´s environmental footprint and each year we try to come up with new ideas which keep Rock for People easy on the environment.

Separate waste collection, glass bins and increased waste capacity…

The sorting and recycling system is based on a web of collection points, whose number has been increased this year.  At every “Green-point” there are large bins for plastic, paper, and aluminum, and in some cases the newly added glass bins.  These collection points will be closely monitored during the festival and emptied regularly.  This year, for the second time, all discarded waste at Rock for People will be sorted.

Greenpeace
Greenpeace will celebrate 20 years of its existence in the Czech Republic at Rock for People.  In honor of this occasion there will be a separate area with a diverse program and a variety of hands-on environmental demonstrations.

In accordance with the environmental program Rock for People will further realize:

  • encouragement/support of mass transportation (including shuttle service and travelling by train and car)

  • cycling, including the installation of bike stands

  • printing flyers and other publicity material on recycled paper

  • distribution of Harmony recycled toilet paper in the port-a-potties

First aid
A first aid tent with health personnel will also be at the festival.  Its location will be marked on a map and in the festival brochure.  In case of an accident in need of more serious medical attention call 155 or 112 for an ambulance.

Food, beer and other drinks

Snacks:

There will be a large variety of snacks at the festival.  Visitors will be able to try anything from a traditional Czech kielbasa to pizza to specialties from the Arabian, Indian, or Chinese cuisine.  There will also be many choices for our  vegetarian visitors including a vitamin-packed juice bar.  Seeing that our supply of food and drinks will be abundant, due to hygienic reasons visitors won´t be allowed to bring their own food or drinks into the festival grounds.  This of course does not apply to the campsite.

Beer and other beverages:
Our beer partner for 2011 is Staropramen. Our supply of drinks will be as diverse as our snacks, so there will be a wide variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.  For beer-lovers there will be a large selection of Staropramen beer, including beer specials for gourmands, 11° degree beer, or non-alcoholic beer for designated drivers. Bottled water will be distributed exclusively by the organizers at a special stand for 20 CZK for 1,5 liter bottle. Drinking water will also be available in the bathrooms.

Read remarks by the last year’s visitor here.

Child-friendly program
Do you have a little rocker at home that you’d like to bring along to Rock for People?  Great idea!  The festival is entirely child-friendly and you’ll be sure to find lots to do with your little ones.

ID wristbands
Each festival visitor will receive an ID wristband upon handing in their ticket.  This wristband entitles you to enter and exit the festival grounds at any given time. The wristband is non-transferable, and if it becomes overly damaged, it will lose its validity.
Each visitor is required to show their wristband to security when entering the venue and if randomly requested.  In the event that a visitor does not have a valid wristband or is unable to show it to security, they will be denied entry and/or escorted from the premises.
Residents of the camp site areas will also receive ID bracelets in order to limit the presence of unauthorized persons within the venue.  This is aimed at minimizing the risk of theft and other unpleasant incidents.

Information points
Info booths
There will be two info booths at the festival, open from 11:00 to 23:00, where visitors can have their questions answered, learn more about the program and its possible changes or delays, find out about services that the festival offers and or see the departures and arrivals of shuttle buses from and to Hradec Králové.  Furthermore, the festival´s newspaper NEWS FOR PEOPLE, which features reports from concerts, interviews with the bands and tips on what not to miss, is also available daily at the information booths.  Please note that although last year Lost and found was located at the info booths, this year it has been moved to the deposit room.

Campsite residents will also receive a wristband to limit trespassing on the festival grounds and therefore minimize the risk of theft and other complications.

Rights & Obligations (including photography & filming)
Photography, filming and recording
As organizers of the festival we are bound by contract to ensure that performances are in no way recorded using professional equipment.  For this reason professional cameras and other recording equipment is strictly prohibited on festival grounds.  Security located at the entrances and at other places will not allow anyone with such equipment to enter the festival grounds (it´s up to security to decide whether the equipment is professional or not).

Therefore we recommend our visitors to leave all cameras and recording devices at home and instead focus on enjoying the festival.  We also point out that photography and recording that violates the contract can lead to premature termination of the concert; the demands of the bands and their management grow stricter each year. Thank you for understanding.

To conclude please remember that although we want our visitors to enjoy themselves as much as possible, remember that your freedom ends when the freedom of others begins.

Sanitary facilities
The camp site includes shower cabins with warm water.  Running water is also available in other areas throughout the venue.  250 portable toilets, as well as urinals will be available to the public free of charge.  There will also be regular toilets in the venue providing additional comfort.  In the event of tropical weather, there will be sprinkler vans to cool you down.

Security and important numbers
For a pleasant and smooth course of the festival it´s crucial to follow instructions given by the organizers and by security.  Security is there for the protection of visitors and to guard the festival grounds.  Security staff will be uniformly dressed and clearly identifiable.  Please feel free to contact the organizers with any problems that arise with the security staff.

Security staff is authorized to: ask to see a ticket or wristband at the entrance to festival grounds and anywhere inside the grounds (including random inspections); searching visitors before they enter festival grounds (to check for unauthorized and/or dangerous items); removal of a person from the festival grounds (persons without a valid ticket or with a damaged wristband, aggressive persons, unauthorized vendors and vendors who violate the sales contract, drug dealers etc.); removal of unauthorized persons from restricted areas; aid to handicapped visitors while entering reserved areas, and protection of visitors and organizers.

Photography and video in the festival area
Please note that we are responsible for the fact that the festival performances will not be recorded (neither audio nor video) by anyone without special permit.  It is forbidden to bring professional cameras or recording equipment into the festival area.  The right to decide whether a particular device may or may not be called professional is entirely upon the festival security workers.  Experiencing the festival live will definitely be more enjoyable than recording it.
