Records buffs already know that the Czech Republic is a vinyl powerhouse and that, among enthusiasts, Czech-made turntables are considered world class. No wonder that the debut of a unique upright model comes from Czech manufacturer SEV Litovel.

Unveiled at the January 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Novinky.cz reports that the company expects to begin production of this one-of-kind of turntable, which plays plates upright via a specially-engineered spring system, as early as summer with 500 units already on order from Austrian distributor Pro-ject Audio.

SEV Litovel, which is Europe’s largest prodcuer of quality hi-fi turntables, says that their vertical, wall mountable model will offer better sound and more convenient operation than a conventional turntable. The company also anticipates worldwide interest due to its elegant and innovative appearance.

While a few other vertical prototypes appeared at CES, the Czech one is making noise among audio geeks for its design and versatility.
